Protecting health by detoxification
When summer is here, the steaming heat continues to heat up the asphalt roads. We jack up the air conditioning to keep the indoor temperatures low. When the temperature difference is significant inside and out, one's body rhythm can be broken, and easier to get sick, such as cold. Therefore, people tend to focus on balancing their bodies with healthy food and other methods.
Q. CEO Park Bo-hyun of B&H Korea (hereinafter referred to as Park Bo-hyun): What does "Design" mean and what kind of hospital is it?
A. Kim Rae-young, director of Apgujeong Design Hani Hospital (hereinafter referred to as Kim Rae-young): In English, it is written as design, in Chinese characters, Dae-Ja-in, and in Korean, Dae-ja.
Our value is to design your body & mind. The idea that the Design Hani Clinic is to balance your health of the inside and the outside. Instead of artificially breaking the body's balance, skin detoxication is achieved by making the outside and inside healthy simultaneously. We are running a program that traces and get rid of bad elements accumulated in your body due to time, bad habits, and stress.
Q. Park Bo-hyun: What is detox, and what are the characteristics of the detox program?
A. Kim Rae-young: It's easier to view that detox as a result. Basically, our body does not consume 100% of the stuff we take in, so wastes accumulate in the body. Even if you live in a pollution-free environment, there are residues and wastes that occur during the metabolic process. They're not easily released and they don't cause a big problem, but when stress occurs in our bodies, cells become inflamed and they're combined with debris and waste to produce toxins. In general, fatigue, lethargy, swelling, indigestion, and etc. occur, and also hyperlipidemia and accumulation of neutral layers in the blood occur.
Our hospital's detox program is originally design to combines Chinese medicine with Ayurveda medicine from India. It is the process of removing toxins from the body, increasing vitality, and therefore leading the path to health, beauty, happiness, and peace. Programs which help relaxing mental and physical stress, such as therapy with herbal oil, are also included. Since it is a healthier diet program, there will be no yo-yo effect, since blood circulation is improved and accumulated waste can be discharged due to a healthier metabolism.
Q. Park Bo-hyun: Who is the major target market of the detox program?
A. Kim Rae-young: Mostly people in their 20s, but there are also many menopausal women in their early 40s and 50s.
They eat and exercise less because their blood circulation decreases before and after menopause, as well as their ability to digest and absorb. So there are many people who does these programs. They needed for dieting purpose in the beginning, but it develops into a purpose to keep your body clean. In the case of men, they are looking for detox programs due to many unknown causes of fatigue, likely a result of alcohol and cigarettes.
Q. Park Bo-hyun: It's summer now. Is there a way to rejuvenate and increase immunity?
A. Kim Rae-young: For those who have accumulated fatigue and weakened immunity, it is good to take a pill called Gongjin-dan with an even diet. It is effective for dizziness, headache, chronic fatigue, irregular menstruation, and stress-induced weakness.
Although the powder in the main ingredient is expensive, but the price varies depending on the content you put in. In my case, I make my own Gongjin-dan. Since the medicine is expensive, I have to see it myself to give it to patients. In addition, for the reliability, we make reservations for those who want it and prepare it in front of them. Also, for those who are unable to come to the hospital in person, we take pictures of the production and send to them.
Q. Park Bo-hyun: In what countries do overseas patients visit, and can the detox program run as effectively as for the Koreans?
A. Kim Rae-young: There are many foreign patients visiting from China. Traditional Medicine doctors in China also visited the hospital to receive not only detox programs but also oriental medicine training. In the case of foreign patients, it may vary from patient to patient and their difference in purposes, but if weight loss is the major goal, it can be carried out in a seven-day process. Since it may be difficult for Koreans and foreign patients to visit the hospital, we prepare medicine that we can take at home and fill out a diet table for them to follow themselves. If you do as instructed, detoxification and weight loss are possible.
Q. Park Bo-hyun: Do you have any future strategies and goals for the clinic?
A. Kim Rae-young: Some questions regarding our body often cannot be explained by Western medicine from the United States and Europe. What Western medicine cannot solve is the idea of alternative medicine, and these days, alternative medicine has become a hot topic and there are many attempts to integrate them into various studies. I think the value of oriental medicine could be greater in the future.
Oriental medicine is not a must. In some cases, diseases that are not treated well in western medicine, such as allergies and atopic dermatitis, can be treated with oriental medicine. In the future, I hope to see oriental medical clinics can be introduced to Western medical hospitals and operated as an integrated solution.
